Supply Chain Management Admissions
The master’s in supply chain management online program offers four start dates per year. Applicants who apply by the priority deadlines will pay a reduced fee of $45, receive an admissions decision sooner and have more time to plan for the future.
The final deadline for the July 2024 cohort is May 9, 2024.

M.S. in Supply Chain Management Curriculum
The master’s in supply chain management online program offers the same curriculum content as our on-campus program. Consisting of 30 credits, the curriculum is split into three categories: Supply chain core courses, selectives and a capstone.
Courses prepare students for a career in the supply chain industry by focusing on topics such as risk management, financial management and the creation of innovative and digital supply chain strategies. The program capstone is also registered as a certified training provider for the Council of Six Sigma Certification and provides students the body of knowledge necessary and eligibility to pursue a Green Belt certification from the American Society of Quality.
The curriculum will also train students to make meaningful decisions in the rapidly changing marketplace. Program coursework can be completed in as few as 15 months. Visit our curriculum page to learn more.

Learning Outcomes
Graduates of the online master’s in supply chain program will be able to:
- apply industry-standard tools and technologies to facilitate problem solving;
- identify strategic issues and differentiate them from tactical issues;
- translate descriptions of a variety of business situations into formal models; and
- analyze those models in an organized fashion.
Earn Two Master’s Degrees From Syracuse University for Fewer Credits
Students are now able to earn two master’s degrees from the Whitman School or other schools at Syracuse University for fewer credits. Once enrolled in the M.S. in Supply Chain Management online program and for up to one year after graduating, students may take advantage of this opportunity and apply for a second online program.
Students pursuing their M.S. in Supply Chain Management can increase specialized expertise to set themselves apart in the job market by completing one of the following degree combinations:
MBA (54 credits) and an M.S. in Supply Chain Management (30 credits) for as few as 69 credits
M.S. in Business Analytics (36 credits) and an M.S. in Supply Chain Management (30 credits) for as few as 54 credits
M.S. in Entrepreneurship (30 credits) and an M.S. in Supply Chain Management (30 credits) for as few as 51 credits
Residencies
At Syracuse Business, master’s students are welcome to attend a residency as a part of their degree program when the topics are relevant. These three-day residencies are designed similarly to business conferences, encompassing experiential learning, insightful talks from prominent speakers, and interactive panels. They also provide invaluable networking opportunities, allowing students to meet their peers and professors face-to-face. Residencies are held either on campus, in the U.S., or abroad.

Patrick Penfield
Professor of Supply Chain Practice and Director of Executive Education for the Whitman School
Certified in purchasing management, production and inventory management, and integrated resource management, Professor Penfield has over 15 years of experience in supply chain management and has worked for companies such as Johnson & Johnson and Phillips Electronics. His research focuses on natural resource management through sustainable supply chains and how green supply chains can reduce costs for businesses.

Julie Niederhoff
Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management
Professor Niederhoff has taught core and elective supply chain management courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her work on behavioral decision making and its effect on supply chain management and the efficiencies and profits of businesses has been published in top research journals such as Management Science and Production and Operations Management. In her personal time, she works with a nonprofit that aids orphaned children in boarding schools throughout Eastern Europe. These efforts inspire her research on humanitarian logistics and matching available supply and demand to make the most of every resource.

The Whitman School offers both a Master of Science in Supply Chain Management program and a Master of Business Administration program with a specialization in Supply Chain Management. While an MBA with a specialization in Supply Chain Management provides insight into the field, an M.S. in Supply Chain Management can prepare students for distinct career outcomes that require a deeper expertise.
M.S. in Supply Chain Management
Curriculum:
Topics include sourcing, inventory management, Lean Six Sigma, global supply chain and supply chain design and analysis.
Career path:
