Online MBA Specializing in Business Analytics


Business analytics is one of the fastest growing areas of opportunity for MBA students. In the Business Analytics MBA specialization, students are prepared for an analytical career in the fields of accounting, finance, marketing, and supply chain management through techniques in data analysis.

Business analytics experts rely on pattern analysis in data to develop marketing and pricing strategies, detect accounting fraud, optimize supply chain operations, and minimize risk while optimizing profit in financial portfolios. Students will gain experience in the use of hands-on tools for analysis and the development of data-driven business strategies.

Specialization Outcomes

  • Skills in data collection, data visualization, statistical and pattern analysis, and data mining
  • Working knowledge of common analytic tools used to analyze complex data
  • Subject matter expertise in analytic best practices with a business foundation

Online MBA students will complete three elective analytics courses to complete a specialization in Business Analytics. Courses include the following: 


  • Business Analytics

Electives (select two of the following):

  • Accounting Analytics
  • Marketing Analytics
  • Financial Analytics
  • Principles of Management Science

Additional courses will be added to this list in the future. These courses will include offerings from the School of Information Studies and the College of Engineering and Computer Science for those students who would like a more technical orientation.
